Southern Ridges Walk (up to HortPark)

First of all, i would like to thank all the volunteers who expressed interests in this outing. However, we have few volunteers who fell sick and couldn’t join in at the last min. Take care and get well soon, my friends!

First, most turn up quite punctually and we started the Southern Ridges Walk (Thanks to Lay Leng for correcting me) at Exit D of HarbourFront MRT. We started on the "Marang Trail" and made our ascend to Mount Faber Cable car tower. Our small prawn had expressed interests in taking cable car and we can consider combining it together with the upcoming Sentosa Outing for Volunteers.   The weather was very  and we had a pretty good warm up going to Mount Faber. Our efforts were paid off with the scenic view and cooling breeze.

Thereafter, we walked to "Henderson Waves". Beautiful place! (See photo). I heard it is even more beautiful at night with the appropriate lightings. Next time, perhaps we can go in the evening to avoid the  and enjoy a different experience. Hmm…can consider tying it up with the upcoming Sentosa Outing for Volunteers (Return trip).

After the beautiful waves, we made our way to Telok Blangah Hill Terrace. Those who grew up with SBC TV drama serials should have seen this before as it is often used as a place where the couples breakup or the secret society’s illegal deals.. VERY Dramatic right! But actually, beautiful and peaceful place too!

We then started on the "forest walk" to make our way to HortPark towards Alexandra Road. The metal "drain" bridge is safe but long and winding, allows us to walk alongside with the tree canopies, away from the busy traffic.

After walking and stopping and more walking…we finally arrived at HortPark! We had a "free and easy" tour at HortPark (about 45mins). There are many interesting theme gardens with different types of plants/ fruits/ flowers. Think i can confidently call it the "HOTPark" today and i’m sure most of u will agree with me. After grilling under the hot  for 45mins, we proceeded to Chinatown Complex Market and Food Centre for our lunch break. Lunch was Yummy of cos.

We have 11people each for outing to Southern Ridges Walk and Karaoke respectively. IT was really Fun and Enjoyable except for the hot sun. Thank you all for celebrating NDP2008 with me dear friends! Looking forward to the next volunteer outing and hope to see u there!

The trip began with some excitement over the loss of Mun Hoe\’s glasses! Thank goodness, the missing glasses were discovered early and eventually found with the help of many kind souls. The trip scored an A for puntuality, good planning, wonderful company, valuable knowledge and all great fun!! If not for the scorching sun, I would have given it an A*!! Many thanks to Mei Fang for her recommendation and coordination of the trip and to ALL present for their cheerful presence!!!

I am sure the karaoke in the afternoon was full of fantastic singing, joy and fun. Mei Fang, will there be a separate blog for our reading pleasure!! 🙂

Another blog for karaoke…also can…but will be short…
CORRECTION: The 2nd group Photo posted on the blog is actually at Telok Blangah Hill Terrace. Not Alexandra Arch. Saw the NParks brochure n realised my mistake. Hee hee.
