Mid Autumn – 18 Sep 2010

A night’s experience with Bright Hill elderly in celebration of Mid Autumn festival…our FIRST in many ways:
– our first night activity at Senja Road
– our first pot luck with volunteers home cooked food and/or sponsored food
– our first time sharing our food with elderly
– our first time eating with them
– their first opportunity for some elderly to be pushed out of the Home in the night to receive some fresh air

Mid Autumn is indeed a fantastic way to blend the young and old. The elderly was delighted to carry their candle lit lanterns while the young eagerly helped to light up their candles and pushed them around. Most elderly were trained to sleep early hence it was no surprise the turnout was below expectation. And that probably was good in a way as the elderlysize was better managed by our small group of volunteers. We played games and both elderly and volunteers participated actively in our English/Chinese riddles. Judging from the smiles, laughter and noise we were certain that the elderly enjoyed themselves and the volunteers’ time was well spent!
